The University of Western Australia (UWA) has its main campus in Perth. It is in the top 1% of universities in the world, and is regarded as one of the nation's leading research institutions. Past graduates include former Australian Prime Minister the Honourable Bob Hawke AC, and Oscar-winning artist Shaun Tan.
The university was given a five-star rating by the Good Universities Guide 2018 for its low student-to-teacher ratio, which means all students get plenty of dedicated support while learning. The courses also offer many opportunities to undertake work experience through UWA’s strong industry partnerships.
The main Perth campus is near to the city centre and the beach. Students have everything they need on site – UWA’s Guild Village is a mini community with everything from a hairdresser and travel agent to a dentist, second hand bookshop and a supermarket. Sports facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts and a gym.
The University has a dedicated CareerHub where students can get information on employment, careers events and workshops. They can also book an advisor for one-to-one advice on everything from perfecting their CV to choosing a career path. Other services on offer include disability support, information on finances, a confidential counsellor and an international centre.
UWA's Student Guild runs more than 140 clubs and societies, ranging from sports teams to drama club. There is also a large number of social events for students to get involved in throughout the year, including trips away, festivals, food fairs and Pride Week.
