Which part of our planet do you want to explore? Deep beneath the lithosphere, or out into the atmosphere? Our research ranges from the solid Earth to the fluid Earth and the processes that operate at the interface of these regions. You'll be able to narrow your focus through the Master of Science (Earth Sciences), choosing from either a Geology or Atmospheric Science stream and drilling down (or up) even further. Customise the course to suit your interests The course is designed with flexibility in mind. Choose your own path by selecting from a wide range of core and elective subjects. Whichever subjects you choose, you’ll have access to the best academic expertise from across the region, thanks to our collaborations with other Australian universities. Build your research skills Your major focus in the course will be your research project, which you'll complete under the supervision of one of our academic experts. When you finish the course, you’ll have a major research project to feature in your CV, and perhaps even a published journal article. More than just technical know-how You probably know that employers today are looking for more than just specialist technical skills. To round out your skill set, select from a range of high-level professional subjects, including scientific communication, modelling, programming, business and more. If you’d like to gain even more real-world experience, you can choose to complete an internship in a science or technology-related workplace for course credit. Additionally, you’ll have strong professional skills in: Critical thinking and problem-solving Research planning, literature reviews and ethical considerations Scientific communication, both written and oral Time management. Further study At the end of the course, you’ll be well-placed to begin a PhD in earth sciences, if you choose.

To be considered for entry into this course, you must have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a directly related discipline with a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65% (or equivalent) in the best 50 points of appropriate discipline studies at third year. این دانشگاه شامل ده واحد دانشگاهی مستقل از جمله موسسه تحقیقات پزشکی والتر و الیزا هال، انستیتوی علوم اعصاب و سلامت روان فلوری، موسسه تحقیقات اقتصادی و اجتماعی کاربردی ملبورن و موسسه گراتان است.
دانشگاه ملبورن از 7 پردیس تشکیل شده است که به ترتیب معرفی می کنیم:
پردیس پارکویل Parkville، پردیس اصلی دانشگاه ملبورن است و در فاصله کمی از مرکز ملبورن قرار دارد. یک شهر بین المللی پرجنب وجوش با جمعیت 4.9 میلیون نفری و دارای فضاهای مهم تاریخی در کنار معماری مدرن که 10 دانشکده و جامعه متنوعی از دانشجویان، محققان و کارمندان حرفه ای را در خود جای داده است.
در دانشکده Southbank، هنرهای زیبا و موسیقی تدریس می شود. اکوسیستم پر رونق یادگیری، استودیو و گالری هایی در کلاس جهانی، این دانشگاه را به یک محیط هنری تبدیل کرده است.
پردیس برنلی به دلیل تدریس و تحقیقات خود در زمینه باغبانی شهری، زیست محیطی و تحقیق و توسعه زیرساخت های سبز، در سطح بین المللی شناخته شده است و همچنین اولین کالج باغبانی در جهان می باشد.
پردیس Dookie یک آزمایشگاه جامع است که در مساحت 2440 هکتار بنا شده و در سال 1886 به عنوان کالج کشاورزی Dookie تأسیس شد و نقشی اساسی در توسعه کشاورزی و آموزش کشاورزی در استرالیا بازی کرد. تدریس، تحقیق و توسعه فناوری در Dookie در شکل گیری آینده کشاورزی و تجارت کشاورزی مدرن نقش بسزایی دارد.
پردیس کرسویک تنها دانشکده علوم و تحقیقات در زمینه جنگل در استرالیا است و دارای ساختمان های تاریخی و آزمایشگاه های پیشرفته در 15 جریب زمین مجاور جنگل های بومی و مزارع است. همچنین یک کتابخانه تخصصی علوم جنگل و مجموعه های تاریخی مستند یک قرن آموزش جنگلداری استرالیا را در خود جای داده است.
پردیس Werribee برای آموزش دامپزشکی در نظر گرفته شده است، همچنین این دانشکده دارای بیمارستان حیوانات U-Vet Werribee است. این پردیس در 32 کیلومتری جنوب غربی ملبورن، نسل بعدی دامپزشکان و محققان دامپزشکی را با تجهیزات پیشرفته آموزش می دهد و خدمات عمومی، تخصصی و دامپزشکی اضطراری را به جامعه محلی ارائه می دهد.
