Environmental science assesses the impact of human activity on the global environment and develops scientific, risk-based solutions to help secure a sustainable future. As a student of the Environmental Science and Management extended major, you will be trained to apply scientific, economic and regulatory knowledge to help society resolve global conflicts such as climate change, deforestation and water pollution. You'll learn to Develop skills and knowledge to assess environmental systems, using field, laboratory, modelling and statistical methodologies Integrate science, economics and social science to guide decision making with respect to human intervention in the environment Analyse environmental policies from an economic and social science perspective Career Pathways Students graduating with an extended Major in Environmental Science and Management are equipped for careers in environmental science and policy analysis or a pathway to postgraduate study. Students taking the extended major in Environmental Science and Management will position themselves well in the job market by gaining fundamental scientific, economic and social science skills as well as being trained in networking, team work, leadership and communication of complex issues essential for future leaders. Careers include: Environmental Consultants Environmental Officers Conservation Officers Mine Rehabilitation Specialists Soil Scientists Environmental Economists Conservation Planners Environmental Policy Analysts

(a) enrolled, or eligible to enrol— (i) full-time unless the selection body is satisfied there are exceptional circumstances1 which preclude full-time enrolment; and (ii) in an honours degree course with a specialisation in Conservation Biology, Botany, Environmental Science, Genetics, Geographical Science, Natural Resource Management or Zoology; (iii) in the Master of Landscape Architecture (25550); or (iv) in the Master of Environmental Science (72530); or (v) in the Master of Biological Science (72520); or (vi) in the Master of Geoscience; and (b) undertaking an honours or master’s research project that addresses important topics relating specifically to the grounds of the University as an important part of the heritage of this state.

The University of Western Australia (UWA) has its main campus in Perth. It is in the top 1% of universities in the world, and is regarded as one of the nation's leading research institutions. The main Perth campus is near to the city centre and the beach.
