The Graduate Certificate of Professional Accounting program is designed for students with a degree in a field other than accounting who wish to obtain an introduction to accounting concepts and procedures. What you will study The Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting is designed for students who have qualifications in an area other than accounting and will equip you with knowledge of accounting concepts and theory, and provide a pathway for a career in accounting. Achieving the requirements of the Master of Professional Accounting means you meet the eligibility requirement for entry into CPA Australia and the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. The Graduate Certificate in Professional accounting provides an introduction to subject areas such as: financial accounting management accounting business finance economics Career opportunities Accounting skills are transferable across all industries and are required for sound financial decision making. The insights you will gain by completing the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to seek employment in fields including: financial and management accounting taxation auditing superannuation investment financial advising banking stockbroking

Entry into the Graduate Certificate in Professional accounting (40 units) will be available for applicants who have: 3 year Bachelors Degree not in the discipline; or 3 year Diploma in the discipline; or 3 year Diploma not in the discipline + 1 year relevant business experience; or 2 year Diploma in the discipline + 2 years relevant business experience; or 2 year Diploma not in the discipline + 3 years relevant business experience; or At least 5 years business experience. Students will be required to successfully complete a Business Academic Skills Program (BASP) which will be of 6 weeks duration. The BASP will be non-fee based and can be completed concurrently with courses in the Graduate Certificate. Only after the successful completion of the Graduate Certificate and the academic skills program will students be eligible to formally enrol in the Masters Program. They will, however, receive 40 units credit by virtue of the studies they will have already completed. Therefore they will be required to do an additional 80 units to complete their Masters Degree. TOEFL paper-based test score of 550; TOEFL internet based score of 79; IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5; PTE GSE score of 58; Cambridge English: Advanced score of 58.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria: Be commencing study in an eligible program at the University of Newcastle in 2023 and beyond at an Australian or online campus as indicated on your Letter of Offer Be an International full-fee paying student. Not be the beneficiary of a separate University scholarship unless prior approval for special dispensation has been obtained from the university. Meet all of the financial obligations of a full-fee paying international student, including the full tuition fee and other expenses for the purpose of obtaining your student visa, and in the event that eligibility for the scholarship is not maintained.
