You can declare a primary major and a minor, or a primary major and a secondary major, or a primary major and two minors. Breadth requirements Breadth requirements for your degree are designed to broaden your horizons and extend your knowledge. Courses in literacy, humanities, sciences, social sciences, analytical studies and fine arts give you a grounding in different fields of study to help you determine your interests and strengths. This can be helpful when you decide on your major(s) and minor(s). Most students complete breadth requirements in the first two years of university. Primary major Your major allows you to study a subject in great depth. It can lead you towards your career or graduate studies in a specific area.
