The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) will provide you with a broad foundation knowledge of contemporary business and its practices. Based in Vancouver, Canada, this ACBSP-accredited degree prepares you for a successful career in business or management, where you will contribute constructively to a global economy. UCW’s BCom program has also received the NCMA designation from CIM | Chartered Managers Canada. Students currently enrolled in the BCom program are entitled to a free Associate Membership with the association, giving UCW students the chance to belong to Canada’s chartered management and leadership association while earning their degree. Associate Members can participate in all the networking and professional development opportunities the association offers, helping them get ready for their new career after they graduate. Currently, we offer the following elective areas in the BCom degree: Accounting Accounting skills are consistently in demand. The accounting elective area, in combination with the rest of the BCom degree, will prepare you for entry into a professional accounting program. To complete the Accounting elective area you must, in addition to your required core courses, take: ACCT 303 – Managerial Accounting II ACCT 305 – Principles of Auditing and Assurance ACCT 307 – Taxation ACCT 401 – Strategic Managerial Accounting Business Communications Communication is an essential component of every organization, whether communicating internally to staff and managers, or externally to customers, stakeholders, or the public. The Business Communications elective area will prepare you to produce effective communications materials for a wide range of contexts and in the framework of business strategy. To complete the Business Communications elective area you must, in addition to your core required courses, take: COMM 304 – Social Media PUBR 300 – Public Relations in Practice and Theory PUBR 308 – Persuasive Presentations MRKT 302 – Integrated Marketing Communications COMM 410 – Communication Strategy Learning Methods The BCom follows a course framework of four tiers, allowing you to progress efficiently.
