Are you passionate about international policy? Are you looking to pursue or enhance a career in international or global policy development? Our Master of International Public Policy (MIPP) at the Balsillie School of International Affairs gives you the ability to engage with leading scholars and policy practitioners in the field of global governance to follow your passion and turn it into a rewarding career.
OUR MULTI-DISCIPLINED AND TEAM-TEACHING APPROACH
As a MIPP student, you’ll complete three terms of intensive coursework – each building a specific skill set. Your first term emphasizes core skills in public sector economics, policy analysis and research tools, international relations and globalization. These core skills are then applied during your following two terms to the study of a selected field of concentration in international public policy.
Each field of concentration comprises an interdisciplinary suite of courses involving faculty members from political science, economics, global studies and environmental studies, among others. This ensures you gain a comprehensive understanding of the various perspectives and interests that shape international public policy. A team-taught seminar provides a unique forum for making those connections.
Guest lectures and workshops from policy experts and practitioners supplement your formal study and provide valuable insights on current issues and on the practice of international public policy.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Our MIPP program is a full-time program normally completed in 12 months. In your first term, you’ll complete our four required core courses. In your second and third terms, you’ll choose one of the two fields offered in that term and take the suite of courses required for that field. The fields we offer include:
international environmental policy
international economic relations
human security
global governance
CIGI GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
You’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) Graduate Fellow program. As a fellow, you’ll gain mentorship and guidance from senior scholars and policy practitioners as they advance their own policy research and writing skills.
