Course Details
Our industry contacts say the film industry is growing but there’s a shortage of trained producers. We developed this course to give you the skills you’ll need to stand out in production management or executive producing. Your written assignments and classroom work will help you understand the role of producer. And you’ll put that knowledge to use on actual productions, getting to see the results of your efforts on screen. You’ll build up your portfolio throughout the year, learning the skills you’ll need to impress. We cover all the essentials of preproduction, from strategic planning to organising schedules. You’ll understand the background to your work, studying areas like the global film market and contemporary film developments.
Then we get down into the details. There’s a lot to cover in the producing world, whether that’s budgeting, recruitment, locations, transport, negotiation, or insurance. You’ll need to know it all, and we give you the tools to meet any challenge the production might throw at you.
What are my career prospects
The course is based entirely around the role of producer. You’ll learn what it takes to succeed, and get to practice for the job during your projects. Thanks to regular contact with industry professionals, you’ll have a strong network you can build on for your career. Specific roles you might look for include:
Line producer
Production manager
Production assistant
